April 2015 will mark the second anniversary of the implementation of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (LASPO). The impact of the Act has been felt throughout the civil justice system, as it was responsible for removing large areas of civil legal aid from the scope of public funding. Practitioners often recount a gloomy picture of delays in the family and civil courts, with an increased number of litigants in person and/or lay clients requesting pro bono advice and representation.
