In November 2014 the Law Commission (LC) published a Scoping Consultation Paper entitled ‘Reform of Offences Against the Person’ (Consultation Paper No. 217). It is described as being only ‘a first step’ towards potential reform of this area of criminal law. The LC intends to publish a scoping report once responses to the Scoping Consultation Paper have been analysed. The LC suggests that any future reform should have three main aims:
