Encouraging mediation

With the government keen for disputes to be solved through mediation rather than the courts, how can more claimants be encouraged to use it?

Mediation is becoming an increasingly common way of resolving civil disputes, thanks in part to it being quicker, cheaper and less stressful than going to court. Government cuts to civil legal aid and hikes in court fees have also helped make mediation more popular.
