This examination focus is relevant to AQA AS Unit 1: Law Making and OCR AS Unit 2: Sources of Law.

In relation to judicial precedent and the court hierarchy, you may only have to concentrate on the court hierarchy per se. However, it is also likely you will be asked to look at the court hierarchy along with another aspect of judicial precedent, such as ratio decidendi, obiter dicta or law reporting. If this is the case you must be prepared to allocate your time accordingly, as this has been highlighted as a weakness in examiners’ reports.
