This Examination Focus is relevant for AQA A2 Unit 3: Contract Law, OCR A2 Unit G155: Law of Contract and WJEC A2 Unit 3: Contract and Consumer Law.

Misrepresentation is one of the two main ‘causes of action’ (i.e. grounds for suing) in contract law. The other is breach of contract. The purpose of this Examination Focus is to explain the basic principles of misrepresentation and to compare misrepresentation as a cause of action with breach of contract. For more about breach of contract itself, see Dale Smith’s article ’Breach of contract’ in A-LEVEL LAW REVIEW, Vol. 5, No. 1, p. 2.
