T cells make up around 2% of your total body mass — about 2 × 1012 cells. Communication between these cells is vital in producing an effective immune response. This article explores how T cells communicate with each other and investigates the newly observed phenomenon of membrane nanotubes, which hardwire T cells to help communication.
