Running a McDonald’s franchise

In the second article of this two-part series, Paul Hoang speaks with Tonina Hoang about the management of a successful franchise and the need to build links with the local community

In the last issue of BUSINESS REVIEW, I looked at the motivations behind Tonina and Keith Hoang giving up their successful businesses and buying a McDonald’s franchise. Since then, they have bought and set up a second outlet. So what is required of a McDonald’s franchisee?

Tonina became a McDonald’s franchisee because of the opportunity to be part of a global brand with a successful business model that allows growth, even during a time of economic instability. Her portfolio now includes two restaurants in Bromley, putting her on track to achieve her target of running three restaurants within 5 years and ten within 10 years.
