In the complex world of business, innovation is the successful commercialisation of new ideas. Professors Joe Tidd (University of Sussex) and John Bessant (University of Exeter) argue that all businesses must innovate to remain competitive. Their 4Ps model provides a useful tool for analysing four types of innovation that seek positive change:

1 Product innovation: innovative changes centred around the goods and services offered by a business organisation.
