SWOT analysis

SWOT analysis is the most widely used technique for managing business strategy. It sorts current issues into strengths and weaknesses, and future ones into opportunities and threats. This helps directors when considering what bonuses to pay now, and how (or if) to pay them in future. A SWOT analysis gives a starting point for agreeing what’s going well or badly, and deciding what comes next.

BP operates in 70 countries and produces about 3.3 million barrels of oil per day. It has more than 17,000 retail outlets (i.e. petrol stations).
