When the financial details are examined, the proposed merger between Sainbury’s and Asda looks more like a takeover

In April 2018 Sainsbury’s made an official announcement that it had agreed to ‘merge’ with supermarket rival Asda. When the financial details became clearer, the merger looked more like a takeover — Sainsbury’s buying Asda.
