In early 2018 PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) published its latest edition of ‘The World in 2050’. This is its flagship publication, forecasting global economic changes, but also building a careful story about the importance of PWC in the world to come. This edition focused on India, following a widespread view that, in the very long term, India will become the world’s biggest economy. Figure 1 shows how tough a task that will be.
