Silica aerogel, one of the strongest, lightest, and most insulative materials known. Only three times heavier than air, it is held up by convection currents from the flame, and at the same time protects the flower due to its super-insulating abilities

Aerogel is a futuristic material with amazing properties. It is strong, light and is an excellent insulator. Manufacture of this wonder-stuff requires an understanding of phase diagrams and supercritical fluids.
