Jessica Mookherjee

Jessica Mookherjee is a poet of Bengali origin who grew up in Mumbles, Wales. Her poem ‘The Milk’ draws on her childhood experience, using Welsh vocabulary and cultural references. For example, ‘mamgu’ is Welsh for grandmother and Bendigeidfran is a giant king from Welsh mythology. Mookherjee’s first pamphlet, The Swell, was published by Telltale Press in 2016. Her second, JoyRide (Black Light Engine Room Press), followed in 2017. She has published two full collections: Flood (2018, Cultured Llama) and Tigress (2019, Nine Arches Press).
