NEW HORIZONS: GEOGRAPHY WORKS

Working in international development

My current job is working on a research project for an international development consultancy at Oxford Policy Management. My job title is an assistant programme coordinator, which does sound like a lot of business jargon, but in practice it means that I mostly do administrative and project management to support the completion of this large research project.

I got this job shortly after completing my geography master’s degree in environmental governance. My degree prepared me for this role by giving me a good understanding of the kinds of global geopolitical issues that might be impacting our research projects around the world as well as data collection and management skills.
