At its heart, geography is about how the world works. I am a foreign correspondent — a journalist bringing news to people from around the world — and that’s why gaining a geography degree gave me the best start I could have in my career.

Much of my work is about finding stories: nuggets of information or experiences that reveal something to my viewers and readers. That’s where geography is at its most valuable to me, with its insight into what may be only a ‘blank space on the map’ to other journalists.
