Have you ever wondered what was on TV and radio the day you were born? Explore this BBC database

I recently used the BBC’s online Radio Times database — https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk — to look up the day I was born. Interestingly, there were some TV programmes (Dr Who and Match of the Day) plus several radio programmes (Woman’s Hour, Any Questions and Desert Island Discs) that are still on today. While this activity was fun, there is a more serious point to understanding what British people in the twentieth century were watching and listening to.

The online Radio Times archive starts in September 1923 and runs to 2009. All the Radio Times magazine issues are keyword searchable. You can also set data parameters, and search specific TV or radio stations.
