The role of technology in professional sport is constantly changing the dynamics of sport analytics. The analysis of sports data using analytical tools and methods is used in order to improve results and overall team performance. The role of the analyst is becoming more prevalent and demandingas all coaches bid to outdo each other, attempting to prepare their teams for optimum results.

Performance analysis The provision of objective feedback to a group of performers who are trying to bring about a positive change in performance. Feedback can include a number of indicators including the number of passes made, pass completion, distance run in kilometres, number of shots completed, team dynamic-shape etc.
