Social change refers to an alteration in the social order of a society. Sport is often viewed as a means of bringing about positive alterations for certain groups/sections of society, including unemployed people, and socially and economically disadvantaged young people living in inner-city areas.

There are many different schemes and initiatives that use sport and physical activity to try and bring about positive social change.
