Recovery methods in professional sport

Recovery following exercise is an important A-level topic. Here, elite-level physiotherapist David O’Sullivan gives you some insights.

In the last decade or so there have been some major breakthroughs in sport science. A technological example is the introduction of recovery compression garments such as Skins. However, it is easy to get caught up in all the hype and forget the basics.

Recovery simply means getting one’s body back to the state it was in before a game or event. There are both physical and mental factors to consider, but this article will focus on physical factors.
