Gymnastics is a sport that requires a huge amount of physical conditioning even to master the basic skills on the apparatus. Without this preparation and training the performer is unlikely to progress and will ultimately put themselves at risk of injury. By understanding the nature of the skills involved you can attempt to design strength training and conditioning programmes for gymnasts and apply this knowledge to other sports.
