The London 2012 Olympic Games was a fantastic sporting occasion that will live long in the memory of all of us who were fortunate enough to witness it. PE REVIEW had its fair share of representatives, as a number of the athletes featured in the magazine were a key part of Team GB’s success.

Kate Walsh (Vol. 7, No. 3) also secured bronze as captain of Team GB’s women’s hockey team. Despite fracturing her jaw in a group game against Japan, Walsh returned to the team after spending 3 nights in hospital and having a titanium plate inserted in the left side of her face. Undeterred, she helped her side win the bronze medal match against New Zealand at the Riverbank Arena, where she likened the crowd to the Glastonbury festival.
