Skillset looks at the practical skills required for AS/A-level physics. This issue discusses techniques for increasing accuracy, with a focus on timing

If you started your AS/A-level physics course this year, you will find that your specification sets out certain requirements for practical work. Along with developing general experimental skills such as working safely, or plotting graphs, you are required to develop your skills using particular physics apparatus and techniques. Questions in the written exams will test your knowledge of these.

While the different specifications set out their requirements in various ways (for example, they list different core practical activities) the 12 basic requirements are the same in all of them; you will probably find them listed as ‘Use of apparatus and techniques’.
