Helicopter pilot

Robert De Maine is a helicopter pilot in the Royal Navy. He talked to PHYSICS REVIEW about his work and the route that led him there.

PR Let’s start with where you are now. What is your role and where are you based?

RDM I’m a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy and I train helicopter pilots. I’m based at RAF Shawbury, near Shrewsbury, in the Military Flight Training School, which is the national helicopter pilot training school for all the military services (Army, Navy and Air Force).
