The Unit 2 test has two sections. Section A has questions based on stimulus material and you must answer one question from a choice of two. Section B requires an extended answer, in other words an essay response, and you must answer one question from a choice of two. Both types of question are considered in this article and advice is given on how you should go about writing a strong answer.

First, some basic information: the principle of the unit is that there is ‘a mark a minute’. You are advised to spend approximately the same number of minutes on an answer as there are marks available for that section: 5 minutes for 5 marks, 10 minutes for 10 marks and so on.
