Affirmative action evaluated

Affirmative action refers to a package of policies first introduced during the presidency of Democrat Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s. Their purpose was to address the consequences of political policies that had actively denied opportunity to generations of racial minorities. It was controversial at the time and remains so today.
