Is an Inuit less conformist than a Maasai tribesman? Read a cross-culture analysis of conformity studies

In an earlier Web gems (Vol. 19, No. 2) I gave a run-down of the kind of online resources that allow you to run cognitive experiments online. The situation is slightly different for other areas of psychology, where there is more to research than simply responding to stimuli on a screen. There are, however, some great sites that allow you to participate in social psychology research and to run your own studies.

The Social Psychology Network helps social psychologists find participants for their studies. You can find their website here: www.socialpsychology.org/expts.htm. From there you can take part in a range of experiments and surveys. These will change periodically. The current highlights include a survey on attitudes to exes’ Facebook activity (www.tinyurl.com/o2t9l9s) and celebrity gossip (www.tinyurl.com/k8pszvo).
