Cognitive neuroscience is the study of the brain and how it relates to thoughts, feelings and behaviours. In practice, it unifies experimental psychology and neuroscience. It emerged as a discipline just a few decades ago, driven largely by technological advancements that were expanding the study of brain function in living humans. By breaking down the wall between psychology and neuroscience research, it opened up a new and fruitful route to understanding the interactions between brain and behaviour.
