Haunted houses

The question of whether ghosts or other supernatural phenomena exist is slightly marginal to psychology. However, all human experience is fair game for psychologists, and psychology can perhaps illuminate why we experience some buildings as creepy and why reports of ghostly happenings tend to cluster around particular sites.

Environmental psychologist Frank McAndrew (2018) has studied haunted houses and proposes some shared characteristics that might contribute to the experience of hauntedness.
