EXAM FOCUS

OCR: applying key research

Anna Horwitz focuses on how to answer one of the option questions on Paper 3

Paper 3 is the applied psychology paper. It is assessed in a 2-hour exam and counts for 35% of your A-level. Paper 3 contains two sections: Section A on Mental Health and Section B on the options — you answer questions on the two options you have studied (Child, Criminal, Environmental and/or Sport and Exercise). Within each option there are six exam TOPICS and the option question will test you on one of these six TOPICS.

The option question is split into three parts: (a), (b) and (c). These three parts will cover the three aspects of the TOPIC: BACKGROUND, KEY RESEARCH and APPLICATIONS. However, it is not the case that Part (a), (b) and (c) refer to each of these separately — each question will combine the three aspects in some way.
