What does it mean?

Social mobility refers to the movement of a person or group up or down the social class scale, usually measured by their occupation. It can be measured intragenerationally (comparing a person’s occupational class at the beginning and end of their working life) or intergenerationally (comparing a person’s occupation with that of their parent/s).
