Ihave always been fascinated by the business model of sport.In my opinion, Muhammed Ali is not only the greatest boxer of all time, but also the individual that created the business model that has led to fame and riches for those who have followed in his footsteps. The recent heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium was not only one of the most dramatic bouts of recent years, it was also a huge financial success for all concerned.
However, it will be interesting to see whether the business of boxing is dealt a knockout blow by newcomer mixed martial arts (MMA) and its premier competition, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
