On 30 June 2020, Toyota announced a world first. For 50 years all cars have used the same technology in the plating process. This coats electronic parts with copper, nickel and other metal coatings.
Traditionally these parts were dipped into a bath of each metal. This process was slow, wasteful of the metals, and generated a lot of carbon dioxide. The new, patented Toyota process stamps metals only onto areas that need plating. This saves considerable amounts of space and time.
