Getting diagrams right

Being able to draw correct diagrams under exam conditions is an important way of demonstrating to the examiners that you have conquered this vital skill. Peter Smith shows how to avoid some common errors

You meet a lot of diagrams in studying A-level economics, and by now you will have realised this. This is because diagrams are a really helpful way of explaining economic theories.

When you are undertaking assessments, you may be faced with instructions such as ‘Making use of a diagram, show…’. Even if you are not told explicitly to use a diagram, you may find that doing so is the best way of explaining something. Using diagrams is one of the key quantitative skills being assessed in A-level economics, so you will not escape having to draw some.
