This Practical Geography looks at the significance of Britain’s 21st national census and how census information can be used for fieldwork and research

The census is a giant snapshot of the whole nation taken every 10 years. It is the only survey which provides a detailed picture of the entire population, asking the same questions at the same time everywhere. This makes it easy to compare different areas (at a range of scales). Apart from households it includes:
