Uganda’s oil: blessing or curse?

Liverpool

Rebranding beyond the city centre

Urban management and regeneration are important topics at A-level. This article looks at regeneration and rebranding in areas of Liverpool outside the city centre

A view of Liverpool from the more prosperous south

Liverpool city centre has been transformed by regeneration projects such as the Liverpool One retail development and the new waterfront facilities at the Pier Head and Kings Dock (see Further reading). This change was reflected in the way the city projected itself as European Capital of Culture in 2008. Since then Liverpool has highlighted the image of the iconic and high-rise buildings of its waterfront, and had a prominent marketing presence at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

City-centre regeneration continues, particularly at its fringes, but regeneration and rebranding issues do not just affect the city centre. This article looks at the inner city and suburban areas.
