China

The growing economic and military power of China has global repercussions. Although it is not a member of the G8 (the eight wealthiest countries in the world) growth rates of up to 10% per annum mean that it is now the largest exporter of goods on the planet and the second largest importer of goods. There are plenty of good internet resources about the current state of China. You can start with the CIA (www.tinyurl.com/3aeane) and BBC sites (www.tinyurl.com/3nbk5jp). The Chinese government site is also helpful (www.china.org.cn), as is the portal site at www.tinyurl.com/cya7upq.
