Managing your fears and doubts

David Sammel explains how to navigate fears and doubts to achieve success

Athletes and students are dealing with a lot. The responsibilities and choices students must make are increasing as you move from your teenage years towards adulthood, emerging from puberty with the chemical changes that this brings. Your relationships to parents, teachers and coaches are also evolving as all sides must manage boundaries as your emerging powers and ideas clash with old boundaries. You think you know a lot more than you do and adults are surprised at how much you do know and how wise you can be, and all of this is a breeding ground for fear and doubt. One minute you are confident, positive and on top of the world, the next riddled with doubt and fear of who you are and what things mean.

There is constant comparison, judgements, labels and expectations put on you by others and yourself. You want to ignore these but so often it is difficult to not be affected by the comments or actions of others. Through all of this you must find a way of getting the best out of yourself. This article offers a few tips on how you can navigate through your fears and doubts.
