Edexcel-style question to accompany the article on pp. 18–20

Voters in Arlington, Virginia, queuing to vote in the 2020 election

Evaluate the extent to which the factors of gender, race, religion and education all played an influential role in voting patterns in one presidential election since 2000. You must consider this view and the alternative view in a balanced way. (30 marks)

The first thing to do is to decide on one election since 2000 that you are going to discuss. You can refer to other elections in your answer, but you must refer to one specifically in your answer. This ‘Exam eye’ will focus on the 2020 election. It is important to make clear which election you are discussing in the introduction and then focus in the conclusion on which factors were the most influential in that particular election.
