If you have been asked to play a game, you can’t really do it unless you understand the rules to that game. It’s the same in psychology. You can’t be critical about psychology until you know the rules of psychology. That’s what research methods really are — they are just the rules of how to play ‘Psychology’.
For some reason, however, many students dislike learning about research methods. So perhaps a little makeover would help? What if research methods had a new name that most people would associate with something cute…like puppies?
