Getting an A*

A* business studies student Sophie Holman explains how she did it

Iam not going to pretend that I dedicated 2 years of my life entirely to business studies, because I didn’t. However, I learnt from my mistakes in order to get an A* and now I want to share these with you, so hopefully you won’t make the same ones.

BUSS1 is not too difficult, especially if you took business studies at GCSE, as you will already have a basic knowledge of the topics. However, it is crucial to practise past papers for this exam. The theory may be similar to GCSE but the questions are quite different in style. I found that reading the case study in the exam confused me a little and I had to reread it several times, trying to find key information. This could have been avoided if I had experienced papers like this before, which would have given me more time to prove to the examiner that I knew what I was talking about.
